Spring Clean Your Finances

Feature Article

Listed here are just a few of the simple steps you can use to clean up your finances now.

SPENDING FROM YOUR CHECKBOOK
Empty your checkbook of unnecessary check writing. The more checks you write, the more money you spend and sometimes the spending becomes automatic. There is also a greater tendency to make mistakes in your checking account when you write multiple checks often.

SPENDING FROM YOUR PURSE
Empty your purse of unnecessary spending. Think before you take money out of your purse to make a purchase, remember the four this's: Do I need this? Can I use this? Will I use this? and Will this last?

SPENDING FROM YOUR CLOSET
Empty your mind of unnecessary trips to clothing stores. Women especially have a distinct tendency to over-buy in the clothes department. This spring, dig deep in your closet, find clothes you haven't worn for awhile, dust them off, clean them, and mix and match for an unlimited number of new combinations of clothes.

SPENDING FROM CREDIT CARDS
Empty your credit report of unnecessary debt. Write out your debts on a big board if you have to, plan what to pay off and when to pay it off. Set specific goals whether it be six months or six years and stick to them.

SPENDING FROM YOUR CUPBOARDS
Empty your cupboards of unnecessary food items and shop with a list. Forget the prepackaged stuff, you pay for the packaging, preparation, additional ingredients, and that is why it is priced extremely high. Buy foods selectively and prepare your own.
